USW Men’s 1sts second game of the BUCS Hockey season finished with an emphatic 6-1 win against Aberystwyth at the Sport Park.
USW’s first chance came after five minutes with a penalty corner by John Lowrie, whose lofted effort hit the bar.
Aberystwyth could not trouble Ben Wood in USW’s goal, with the home side dominant from the off.
USW’s first goal that came in the 23rd minute when Dan Moriarty benefited from good build up play down the right-hand side to find a way through the Aberystwyth defence.
Another goal quickly arrived when Lowrie found space out wide and cut inside to make it 2-0 after half an hour.
Moments before the end of the half, Lowrie, who played his part in the second, made it three, his tap-in putting USW 3-0 up at the halfway mark.
Going into the second period, USW managed to score two quick-fire goals through Ellis Tootall, and a sixth came courtesy of Andrew Smith via a penalty corner to round off proceedings.
A penalty for Aberystwyth in the 52nd minute was saved to his right by Ben Wood, denying Tom Bar.
But moments later Wood was unable to keep Aberystwyth out, with Bar getting a consolation for the visitors.
