USW 1sts sharp-shooters Ali Chan and Elin Barwick ensured their team was triumphant against Bristol 4ths at the USW Sports Park.
The hosts lethal attacking duo combined to score 51 of their side’s 54 goals and were way too good a matchup for Bristol.
A strong first quarter from USW saw free-flowing netball being played in all areas of the court as they led Bristol 15-10 going into the second quarter.
Bristol’s clinical captain Niamh Miller kept the second 15-minute segment evenly matched, picking up an impressive 23 goals in 34 attempts. Their accuracy ensured their her side was in touching distance of the hosts at the halfway point at 27-21.
Going into the third quarter USW upped the intensity with intricate passing patterns which caused Bristol to concede a glut of obstruction penalties.
The hosts dominated possession with Cerys Bush pulling the strings to help her side increase their lead to seven points at 39-32 with 15 minutes left to play.
Bristol however wouldn’t go down without a fight with forwards Ciara Jay and Maisie McCarthy dragging the deficit back to four at one stage.
A loud cheer by home fans at the final whistle said it all an impressive USW display.
