USW captain John Lowrie was in high spirits post-match despite a 3-2 loss to Cardiff Met 3rds this afternoon.

Met were given three yellow cards in the second half but still managed to claw themselves to victory after being 2-1 down for most of the second half.

Lowrie said: “I think we put a hell of a shift in.

“We took our chances when we had them and it’s a good sign for us for the rest of the season.

“It was always going to be tight after going 2-1 up.

“I did believe we could get the win but it’s a shame we didn’t. We were very, very close to it.

“Considering they are a league above us, they didn’t show it.

“We really stepped up to their level.”

When asked about the discipline of the opposition, Lowrie added: “It (the cards) certainly helped us.

“But they didn’t look that much different with or without them.

“They were a bit all over the place in general.”
