USW men’s hockey 1sts claimed an emphatic and confidence-boosting win against Bristol, with winning goalscorer Seb Horne the hero.

Horne struck from a second half short corner to earn his side the points from a hard-fought contest.

USW started well with only a double-save from a well worked short corner preventing them from taking the lead.

Yet even after the impressive start from USW, it was Bristol who opened the scoring through Kelby May.

The home side showed great resilience after conceding by testing Bristol goalkeeper Joshua Wainwright-Jones with a flurry of shots.

And in the closing minutes of the half, the home side grabbed an equaliser through Andrew Smith.

Shortly after half-time USW fell behind again when May claimed his second but the hosts were soon level again thanks to Dan Moriarty.

Moriarty and Bristol’s Sam Harcourt were then both on target to make it 3-3, before Horne intervened in the 65th minute with the last word.
