A dominant second half display earned Cardiff Met 8ths a deserved win at the Sport Park.
Second half tries from Tarran Moa, Josh Nott, and Laurence Wedgewood saw the visitors cruise to victory.
Nott claimed the first try from a right wing overlap, but moments later USW forward Travis Rogers went down with what looked a serious injury, with the match delayed 10 minutes while he received medical attention and was stretchered off.
When the game restarted, USW found more rhythm, playing some much better rugby with big carries in the midfield.
They won a penalty from a scrum and a quick tap-and-go saw Llewellyn Brown dart over for a converted try to hand USW a 7-5 lead.
With a Brown penalty making the score 10-5, Cardiff Met needed to find an answer.
And the visitors really upped the pressure resulting in Ryley Surplice bundling his way over the line to draw the score level.
USW made sure that they had the advantage going into the break though.
Met found home hooker Jarrad Bowen difficult to deal with all game, and it was Bowen’s strong running which saw him force his way over for a second try converted by Brown.
Trailing 17-10, Met came out for the second half firing on all cylinders.
Their quick play in the midfield Moa through for a neat finish in the corner to reduce the deficit to two points.
And Met did not stop here as Nott doubled his try tally for the game, strolling in for his second which saw Met lead 22-17.
The second half rampage for Met continued as George Evans profited from what looked a forward pass to cross and Euros Lloyd’s conversion made the score 29-17.
Wedgewood extended the lead before USW replacement Dylan Kelly took a penalty quickly and ran through a number of bodies to score a consolation try.
