Familiar faces met at the USW Sport Park this afternoon as an all-USW fixture saw the 2nds run out comfortable winners 43-22 against their university rivals the 3rds.

The first quarter was very much honours even between the sides, with a point the difference as the 2nds led 8-7.

More of the same followed as the game reached the halfway mark, where the point margin extended by one, with the 2nds holding a 16-14 advantage.

The third quarter saw a gulf in class, as the 2nds increased their advantage as they got out of first gear and really put their stamp on the game, advancing to 27-19.

The 2nds started to click further in the final quarter, as the side’s intricate passing led to plenty of opportunities which provided a platform to extend their league further, which they did as they cruised to victory.

Goal-shooter Natalie Mackay was clinical and at the forefront of the 2nds’ success, in both scoring and providing.

Positions in the BUCS Women’s Netball Western Tier 6B, were at stake in this encounter.

Before the game began they were in close proximity with the 2nds sat sixth on three points and the 3rds bottom of the table in eighth.

A win for the 3rds would have rocketed them up the table ahead of the 2nds, however it was not to be as the 2nds doubled their points tally for the season in style.
