USW netball boss Sophie Everett praised the togetherness of the squad after they made it two wins out of two for the season with victory against the Royal Agricultural College.

The 32-27 victory added to last week’s success against Aberystwyth, to make for a positive start to the campaign.

Everett said: “It was good, really good. We worked well as a team.

“It’s a really exciting season for us this year.”

It was a confident performance from USW, although the result was closer than they would’ve liked.

USW dominated possession but missed many clear chances to make the scoreline more convincing.

Everett believes mistakes came down to “fitness’ issues”, which she believes can be worked on – USW started the game brightly but slowly faded towards the last quarter.

“We had to dig deep,” she added.

“There’s definitely a lot of work to do”

USW are refusing to get ahead of themselves despite the positive start.

Everett praised the opposition for fighting back in the third quarter, but they were second best for much of the encounter.

“They are a brand-new team so it’s always going to be difficult,” she said.

Everett expects “a tough game”against Hartpury who they face in a few weeks.

Hartpury lost their opening fixture and Everett expects to bounce back.
