University of Gloucestershire (UoG) 3rds manager Ryan Davies labelled one of his players “frightening”, after a deserved victory against USW 3rds at the Sport Park.

Owen Caraftis bagged a hat-trick in the win – and drew rare praise from his boss.

“I thought he was frightening today, but I can’t fault the efforts of all my midfielders,” said Davies.

“I think it was a good three points in the end for us.

“I’m very happy with the four goals scored.”

The game had a somewhat sour ending with a lot of commotion in the last 10 minutes as tempers threaten to boil over.

Davies said: “There was a few handbags.

“Probably a few naughty tackles was the cause of it.”

There also seemed to be an issue between the two benches towards the end of the match when a sub of UoG entered the field. Davies added:
“At the start of the game USW said not to do rolling subs, but they brought someone on who had already been on.”

“I think it was just a case of miscommunication to be honest, something that needed to be sorted out before the game.”
