USW men’s 3rds were unfortunate to get nothing from a game that saw them undone by a clinical University of Gloucestershire side in a six-goal thriller.
Early pressure from the Gloucestershire side came to nothing as Aido gave USW the lead in the 13th minute, finishing well from 12 yards after good work on the edge of the box.
Until the 42nd minute, USW looked comfortable behind the ball, but they were then let down by poor defending which allowed Gloucestershire’s Owen Caraftis to run through and slot the equaliser.
There was only a five-minute wait after the start of the second half for the third goal of the contest with Gloucestershire man Harrison Moss finishing off a rebound.
USW tried to hit back via some good pressure but two goals in quick succession from the visitors effectively killed off the game.
Some good footwork from Caraftis enabled him to round the home ‘keeper for the third, then Jax Hundt finished from a tight angle.
A Woody Scott penalty in the closing stages made the score more respectable for the hosts.
The scoreline potentially flattered the away side in what was, at times, a feisty affair.
