USW 5ths sealed an excellent and hard-fought victory against Gloucestershire’s 4ths.

Goals from Daniel Femi and David Nelson inspired USW’s first win under manager Nikolas Stephanatos, as Josh Hedges scored the lone goal for the visitors.

The game started off in USW’s favour with Femi getting an early chance, followed by two more shots on target by him and Harry Carter.

Frankie Episcopo was booked in the 23rd minute as he dived straight into Laurence Dockerty after the BA Sports Journalism student had made a great save.

Femi continued to put pressure on Gloucestershire and in the 28th minute he netted USW’s first goal of the season with a neat near-post finish.

With Gloucestershire trailing they had to look for a way back and they found it in the 43rd minute when Hedges’ scored direct from a free-kick.

USW began the second half off with a fast tempo and Jack Sowerby’s shot was palmed straight to the feet of Nelson who made it 2-1.

Gloucestershire piled on the pressure but found Dockerty in great form between the USW sticks.

The hosts held out to earn their first win and will look to carry this form into their next fixture against Bristol’s 6th team.
