A last-gasp goal from Larry Vaughancapenter earned USW a dramatic win against Aberystwyth.

Vaughancapenter’s late strike meant a third win of the season for the 2nds, as they sneaked past a valiant Aberystwyth.

USW started well as Vaughancapenter netted the home team’s first three points.

A stand-out performer in the first quarter was USW centre Tallulah Cotgrave, who was at the heart of everything the home team created.

USW went into the first break 76 up.

In the second quarter, it was much the same for Vaughancapenter, but Aberystwyth’s shooters Ella McCartan and Amelie Smith were on fine form and fought back to narrow what was a five-point deficit to 16-15 at the halfway mark.

Aberystwyth’s captain Holly Soden starred in the second quarter as her bustling and creative style shone through, as she aided McCartan and Smith to claw back the scoreline.

Aberystwyth carried on their momentum into the third quarter and took the lead for the first time, thanks to a looping shot from McCartan.

USW could not find any rhythm, as they succumbed to the fightback and were two points down heading into the final quarter

The fourth quarter started extremely tensely, with both teams squandering a flurry of opportunities.

However, a loose Aberystwyth pass was latched onto by Cotgrave as she fed Vaughancapenter to seal the match-winning shot.

USW’s next fixture is against fellow USW 3rds on the 27th of November, while Aberystwyth head to Hartpury 3rds on the same date.
