USW men’s 1sts were hammered by Bristol at the Sport Park, the margin of victory not in the least bit flattering to the visitors.

While USW looked hungry in the opening exchanges, the pattern quickly changed when Bristol began attacking down the left side – which led to the opening goal.

Josh Pritchard-Cairns and Ben Spano produced some intricate passing before Pritchard-Cairns played in Bristol winger Amit Waiss, who cut inside and saw his shot deflect into the far corner past helpless USW keeper Joe Holland.

Bristol then took charge of the game, and added their second and third goal in quick succession in the 28thand 31st minutes, courtesy of a fine finish from Jack Bilbruck and a calm penalty from Pritchard-Cairns.

Bristol’s fourth goal came on the stroke of half-time, when Waiss fired a cross to Alec Hollifield, who tapped in at the back post.

There was no change at the start of the second half for USW as Lewis Taylor received a blue card for his comments toward the referee and was sent to the sin-bin for 10 minutes.

Within seconds of Taylor’s removal, Bilbruck drove into the USW box before laying the ball to Waiss, who added his second and Bristol’s fifth goal of the contest.

Bristol’s sixth came in the 73rd minute when Pritchard-Cairns arrowed a shot into the side-netting, following great play from Bilbruck.

There was a small positive for USW as Niro Gowan scored two consolation goals, including a penalty in the 70th minute.

USW now looks to their next fixture on the 5th of February away at Cardiff Met 2nds, while Bristol host Hartpury 2nds on the same date, looking to claim top spot from Cardiff University.
