Newport County head coach Nelson Jardim labelled his players “brilliant” as they brushed aside Harrogate Town at Rodney Parade.
The Exiles ran out 3-0 victors thanks to first-half goals from Cameron Evans and Courtney baker-Richardson, and a 60th minute strike from captain James Clarke.
Jardim said: “It’s been a tough week for the boys, but today we can really say we look comfortable even if no-one knows where we will finish in this competitive league.
“We’ve had many of these (types of game) this year, but let’s accept this game we were much better in many areas.”
Jardim was also asked about a man of the match performance from defender Ciaran Brennan, who was playing in midfield against Harrogate.
He said: “He’s just coming back from injury and I’m happy to see him out on the pitch again.
“We’ve worked hard to try and change him into a defensive midfielder rather than a centre-back.
“Obviously it’s been a tough week, and as the head coach I take that on the chin.
“But this win is massive for everyone at the club, and I’m very proud.”
When asked about translating the home form of his team into away fixtures, Jardim replied: “I mentioned yesterday, the travel times.
“When you must travel back-to-back like we have in the last two games (Chesterfield and Accrington), we leave early in the morning and don’t get back until three o’clock in the morning.
“So these are things we are considering, especially the way we approach games.”
