Taite Trivett and Ingred Aadland ran riot for USW women in a Varsity thrashing of UWE.
USW women drew first blood after the first minute, as Trivett dribbled into the box from the wing, to cut the ball back to Aadland, who found the bottom right-hand corner.
The away side doubled their lead in the third minute of the game, as Aadland rounded the keeper in style after she won the ball back from the high press.
UWE got back into the game after USW cleared a corner only as far as Jess Smylie, whose whipped effort found the top corner.
UWE’s goal looked to give them a way back into the game, but Trivett soon latched onto a ball over the top and found herself behind the UWE defence in the 18th minute. Aylin Lopez rushed out of her box to clear the ball but lost the race as Trivett breezed past her to tap the ball into an empty net.
USW found Aadland and Trivett’s link up play to be effective, as Aadland created two more chances in the 27th and 30th minutes, with Trivett unable to finish.
In the 32nd minute, UWE had a defensive mix up. Trivett capitalised as she slotted the ball into the net to confirm her hat-trick. Moments later she grabbed a fourth to round off an impressive individual first half performance.
Aadland got in on the act again in the 38th minute, cutting inside on her right foot after a brilliant solo run, and converting a 25-yard effort that clipped off the crossbar and fell into the back of Lopez’s goal.
USW found time to score one more goal, as Trivett’s quick feet worked a crossing opportunity, which was ruled as an own goal after multiple deflections.
USW will look to carry this kind of performance into next season, as they prepare for their Southern League Premier campaign.
