A first half penalty miss came back to haunt USW, as Gloucester snatched a last-minute winner to seal a 3-2 away victory.
The match got off to a rapid start, with Gyo Kimura retrieving the ball in the final third and smashing USW into the lead within the first five minutes.
However, poor defending from a Gloucester corner saw Matt Tristram level the affair with an uncontested header.
With the wind and rain picking up, the game remained a cagey affair.
USW looked to be set to break the deadlock when Kimura was fouled in the box. However, Kimura struck the resulting penalty in the bottom right, but the goalkeeper’s outstretched glove palmed it away.
It looked as though Gloucester needed half time after relentless pressure from USW, but the home team’s striker Sylvester Anaisie headed the ball into his own net from an incoming corner, gifting the lead to Gloucester.
Tempers flared after the away side took the lead against the run of play. USW thought the ball failed to cross the line after Anaisie’s header.
A quiet opening 20 minutes of the second half then saw a second penalty awarded to USW as Dooake Sonrandein was bundled over in the box.
Substitute Matthew Campbell stepped up to the penalty, missed but was lucky enough to convert the rebound and level the tie.
A lively final 20 minutes could have seen the tie go either way, with chances thrown away by the two sides.
Though Tristram came up trumps in the final minute to double his tally and cause scenes of jubilation amongst the Gloucester touch line.
