USW 1sts picked up their second win of the season this afternoon, dispatching a spirited UWE 7-0 in the BUCS Western Tier Four.
The hosts got off to a dream start when Dan Moriarty opened the scoring inside the first five minutes when his shot from his own half evaded everyone and found the bottom corner.
Seb Horne doubled USW’s lead shortly after, finishing from close range.
It went from bad to worse for UWE just before half-time when some ping-ball in their shooting circle resulted in a tap-in for John Lowrie.
UWE tried to react but didn’t trouble the home goal despite a strong end to the half.
USW’s dominance continued after the break when Mac Stevenson made it 4-0 within moments of the restart.
Stevenson then doubled his tally just minutes later to increase the lead to five.
Moriarty then got in on the act, scoring his second goal of the game with a smart finish at the back post.
UWE’s misery was compounded late on when Lowrie completed his brace with a tidy finish from inside the shooting circle.
USW will look to build on this win when they travel to Bristol 6s next week, while UWE will be hoping to register their first points of the season when they host fellow strugglers Bath Spa 1s.
