USW netball 1sts continued their fine start to the season with a second successive win, this time against Bristol University 3rds at the Sport Park.
After starting their 2023-24 BUCS campaign with an away win against Cardiff Met, a dominant first quarter saw the visitors take an early 11-8 lead.
The score didn’t reflect how emphatic USW’s attacking game was with captain Ali Chan looking solid with her great shooting keeping the home team in front.
Goal keeper Cadie Baldwin and goal defence Molly Carre were impressive at the back which meant Bristol found it difficult to find the breakthroughs they needed.
Chan was again the beneficiary at the end of the first half as she kept the scoreboard ticking over with support from her counterpart Jade Bevan.
USW continued their dominance into the third quarter with rapid attacking that stretched the Bristol defence.
Bristol tried to battle their way back into the game with star player Eniola Ajayi producing some excellent shooting for the visitors.
However this wasn’t enough as Bevan’s shooting for USW was also on point as she kept her side three points clear at the third interval.
A nervy last quarter saw USW hold out for back-to-back wins to start the season.
Up next for USW is a home tie against Bristol 4ths.
