USW hockey captain John Lowrie described his team’s 5-2 loss to Bristol 4ths as “one of our worst performances.”
Despite some positive periods, USW were decisively second best and could have no complaints about the final score.
And Lowrie cut a frustrated figure afterwards.
He said: “I think we were a better team individually, but we didn’t play as a team which ultimately shot us in the foot.
“It was a shame because we could’ve beaten them on a different day easily.”
USW were missing some key players, which hindered their chances from the off.
Lowrie added: “Our Goalkeeper was injured so someone had to step in and one of our midfielders was injured.
“That collectively threw the team and on a different day we would’ve taken our chances.”
Lowrie did give their opposition credit saying: “They played well as a team, but they got a bit lucky with us having a bad day.
“We’ll be back fighting when we play them next.”
