USW men’s football 4ths captain Joe Doyle said his team got their tactics spot-on in a 6-0 victory against the fifths.

A brace from Freddie Holloway plus goals from Aidan Jones, Toby Sutton, James McClaren, and a 5th’s own goal, secured a comfortable win for the 4ths.

“I thought Josh (Richardson) set us up really well and he always does,” said the skipper of his manager.

“The rest of the team were absolutely phenomenal.”

“Looking ahead to their clash next week against University of Gloucestershire, Doyle added: “We beat them last year, so I think we have a squad that is very capable this year. I’m incredibly happy.”

Doyle was also harsh on himself and spoke of a need for improvement when asked about how he thought he played.

“My personal performance, I can always play better,” said the midfielder.

“I’m a bit critical of myself, I don’t think I played too well.”

” But I guess sometimes you’ve got to soak up their midfield to create space for everyone else.”
