USW 3rds were outclassed at the hands of Swansea 3rds as they were knocked out of the BUCS Western Conference Plate competition after conceding a century of points.

Swansea started very strongly, racking up 11 goals within the opening five minutes before Chloe Ashmall eventually added USW’s first score of the match.

Despite conceding, Swansea then came back at USW and continued to add to their superb start with some slick team passing moves resulting in Amy Townley and Amy Griffiths combining effectively.

The first period finished with Swansea leading convincingly 19-1 and USW had a mountain to climb.

Swansea came back out in the second period just as they finished the first and increased their lead.

Ashmall did add hers and USW’s second of the match midway through the second period but it was only ever going to be a brief stemming of the Swansea tide.

The visitors continued to exhibit their finesse in front of goal taking their tally at the end of the second period to 56 as a result of Townley and Griffiths’ superb performances.

After the halfway mark USW coach Deborah Robins would have been hoping to see a spirited fight back, but straight from the restart Swansea continued to assert their dominance.

The away side kept adding to the scoreline with some swift counter-attacking plays.

Ashmall ended the day with five goals to her name for USW, but it was a lone bright spot on an otherwise difficult afternoon for the hosts.

USW play Bath Spa next week who are without a win all season.
