A CONVINCING 5-0 victory saw USW leapfrog Gloucestershire in their BUCS League table.
The match began evenly with both teams sharing possession and territory and having very few opportunities to take the lead.
However, in the 11th minute a good through ball and a mistake by the keeper resulted in Berit Weiser scoring easily for the home side.
The rest of the first half saw both teams create chances but neither could quite get the finish needed.
The second half started with the hosts clearly showing their intent and being rewarded with a free kick 30 yards out.
A fantastic strike by Laura Kahrestdt saw the ball sail into the top right corner, which extended the lead for USW in the 50th minute.
The momentum continued in the 55th minute when Kahrestdt took a corner and found the back of the net through the near post.
USW were determined to be ruthless and managed to get a fourth thanks to a calm finish from substitute Lianne Everett, who has just recovered from a knee injury.
As the final moments of the match came, Lauren Read managed to get on the score-sheet to round off a superb second half performance for the home side.
The result means USW move into second spot with six points, with Gloucestershire slipping to third on three.
USW’s next match sees them host basement side University of Wales Trinity St David Swansea Women’s 1st in a fortnight.
Gloucestershire travel to unbeaten Swansea University Women’s 2nd in a week’s time.
