Venue: Sardis Road, Pontypridd
USW will be hoping to bounce back from last week’s narrow 24-20 away defeat at the hands of University of Bristol 1st.
Ben Daniels’ side will be up for a tough test at Sardis Road, as they come up against Swansea University 1st who sit just one place behind them in the South A BUCS league table.
Last time USW faced their south Wales rivals, Swansea came out as victors, winning by a narrow margin of three points.
USW will definitely fancy their chances though, having only lost one match out of their previous five outings.
In addition, the home side have also been victorious in every home game this campaign.
USW will be without Bryn Goodall, who has impressed at inside centre this season. He is still recovering after a heavy tackle forced him off the field in last week’s game against Bristol.
Swansea are also in fine form though coming into this one, having won their last five matches on the trot against the likes of Exeter 2nd (51-24), UWE 1st (48-0), Bath (38-0) and Cardiff Met 2nd on two occasions (18-21 and 28-10).
With Hartpury 2nd unable to be promoted due to BUCS regulations, this will be a vital match in deciding who gets to the play-offs.
This is the penultimate game of the season for USW, so this only amplifies the importance of a triumph, with next week’s match being against league leaders Hartpury 2nd.
Other fixtures in the BUCS South A League sees league strugglers University of Exeter 2nd face Bath 2nd, meanwhile high flyers Hartpury 2nd take on play-off hopefuls take on Bristol 1st. Finally UWE 1st who sit rock bottom of the table will face Cardiff Met 2nd.
