University of South Wales suffered their third loss of the season at the hands of bottom placed Bath University, significantly reducing their chances to strike a late surge for the top spot in the league.
Head coach Steve Savage will undoubtedly rue missed opportunities and chances on the opposition goal, in a game which was crucial for both sides looking to get the three points.
“It was a frustrating game in which we had enough chances to score” he said.
USW thought they had at least broken the deadlock, but had an effort ruled out for offside. Savage felt his side were unlucky not to be awarded the goal.
“We thought we had scored off a set-piece but it was ruled out incorrectly for offside which was disappointing. One goal would always prove to be enough as it proved for Bath.”
USW take a break from action until their next fixture on the 31st January, where they will face Swansea University at home.
Savage will hope to come back stronger for their next match-up: “It’s good to have a break now as it will give us time to regroup and look to improve on a challenging season.”
