UNIVERSITY of South Wales women’s 2nd will be hoping to open their BUCS campaign on a positive note when they travel to Gloucestershire.
The Welsh side, coached by Fern Burrage, will be hoping to replicate both results in the Western 3B League last season against the same opposition.
The Treforest-based side won the first of two meetings 5-0 at the Sport Park last November.
Their second and also last match of the season was another convincing win against the English side – a 6-1 thumping at Gloucestershire.
Overall, USW finished second in the league last campaign. Out of a total of eight matches, they came out on top in six encounters, with only two defeats. That meant USW finished on 18 points.
However, both games against University of Wales Trinity St David Swansea Women’s 1st resulted in a USW win due to them not fielding a team.
This meant Swansea University 2nd topped the league after an unbeaten year.
The usual captain for the away team is Ellie Burgess, but unavailability means that vice-captain Georgina Cooper is stepping up in the opener.
