THE Women’s Rugby team at the University of South Wales have been rocked after Jasmine Hare was forced to retire due to a persistent injury.
It brings to an end the playing career of Hare who played her club rugby for Neath based side, Seven Sisters.
Hare is in her final season with the University of South Wales with the 20-year-old set to graduate next summer.
Fly-half Hare has been an influential figure both on and off the field for Mark Hutton’s side this season. Hare has had a number of impressive displays including a hat-trick of tries in USW’s 53-25 victory over Bournemouth.
Alongside her playing commitments, the Rugby Coaching and Performance Student has also been team manager of the University of South Wales’ side for the last two years.

“I’ve had to make the toughest decision of hanging up my boots in rugby union,” Hare announced on Facebook.
“It’s absolutely broken my heart knowing that I’ll never step on the pitch to play the game that I love so much. I’ve made so many amazing memories.
“This is genuinely one of the hardest things I’ve had to do,” added Hare.
“Playing has always been my getaway when things got tough or it’s been something that I’ve always looked forward to do just because of how happy it made me.
“I know that it’s the right thing to do for my health in the long run.
Teammate and USW captain Keely Ward responded: “You will still be my favourite player ever!”
“I’ve loved playing with you so much and honestly won’t feel right playing in red and black without you.”
Another teammate Nina Moore said: “I’m gutted for you, it’s safe to say I’m going to miss you on the pitch.”
