UNIVERSITY of South Wales’ Women’s 1st team will be hoping to maintain their 100%-win record when they visit the University of West England in a top of the table clash on Wednesday afternoon.
USW currently sit top of the BUCS Western 2A and have racked up five bonus points so far this season.
The visitors, who have been out of action since December, have enjoyed a strong season under manager Mark Hutton, and lead Wednesday’s hosts by 10 points.
USW have picked up 120 points on their travels so far this campaign, but will face another tough challenge against UWE, who have won each of their three home games.
The hosts, who co-incidentally have also added five bonus points to their tally, have enjoyed a successful season and will be full of confidence heading into the clash.
They were comfortable winners last time out as they put eight tries past the University of Exeter in a resounding 48-0 victory at Aretians RFC.
Both sides were out of action last week due to fixture alterations, but will be looking to continue their good form when they lock horns on Wednesday.
A victory for USW would see them extend their lead at the top of the table to 14 points, and would put them in a healthy lead heading into the final stages of the season.
Meanwhile, UWE could cut the gap on the visitors to just six points if they were to secure the win, and would also have a game in hand over their opposition.
USW came out on top when the two sides last met at the USW Sport Park earlier in the season.
Captain Freya Jones, Heather Rees and Megan Harrison were all on target at the USW Sport Park as Mark Hutton’s side secured a 24-5 victory.
USW Starting XV: A Evans, Bird, Horne, Newell, Perry, G Evans, Pratt, Ward, Hare, C Rees, Braithwaite, Jones (C), Owen, H Rees, Lloyd.
USW Reserves: L Williams, Ryde, Adams, R Williams, Harrison, Croke.
