CARDIFF City have announced former Millwall boss Neil Harris as their new manager on a deal which runs until 2022.
The appointment comes five days after Neil Warnock departed Cardiff City Stadium following three years at the helm, during which the Yorkshireman guided the Bluebirds to the Premier League in 2018.
A tough 2019 for Cardiff saw them relegated after one season in the top flight and they now sit 14th in the Sky Bet Championship following a 1-0 home defeat to rivals Bristol City in the Severnside derby last weekend.
Essex-born Harris took Millwall to the FA Cup quarter-finals in 2017 and 2019 respectively and also led the Lions to promotion to the Championship in 2017 during his four year tenure at The Den.
Harris brings long time right hand man David Livermore with him to the Welsh capital as his assistant manager as well as James Rowberry and Andy Dibble as first team coach and goalkeeper coach.
Speaking on the appointment, owner Vincent Tan said: “I am pleased to appoint Neil as first team manager of the club.
“I have full confidence in Neil due to his principles on and off the pitch and enthusiasm to succeed. I am glad to offer him this opportunity and look forward to seeing what he is capable of achieving with Cardiff City.”
Chairman Mehmet Dalman added: “Neil is a passionate manager who has all of the right attributes to take the helm at Cardiff City. I know he’s eager to get to work and we look forward to seeing him strive to get the best out of our tight-knit and talented group of players.”
Harris’ first test comes at The Valley on Saturday 23rd November when his side take on Charlton Athletic in Championship action.
