RANGERS legend Ally McCoist believes Wales talisman Gareth Bale has gone “past caring” about the Spanish media.

Bale captained Wales during their 2-0 win over Hungary on Tuesday night, helping Ryan Giggs’ men reach their second consecutive European Championship finals.

But the 30-year-old – who has not featured for Madrid since October 5 – sparked outrage among the media in the celebrations that followed.

Bale held a flag bearing the words “Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order”, which didn’t go down well with those in Madrid.

Former Scotland striker McCoist, however, feels the Wales talisman is no longer interested in the views of the Spanish media.

“There’s an element of me that thinks he’s past caring,” said McCoist, speaking on Sky Sports’ The Debate.

“He’s past caring and he’s reached a stage where he just wants to enjoy his football.

“When you watch him with his Welsh team-mates, he certainly does.”

Asked about who new Spurs boss Jose Mourinho should swoop for, McCoist said: “I think any team on the planet would take Gareth Bale back.

“If they could manage that piece of business, I’m guessing the Spurs contingent would absolutely love that.”

Harry Redknapp – who managed Bale during his days at Tottenham – concurred, adding he wouldn’t hesitate in telling Mourinho to snap the winger up.

“He’s an amazing talent,” Redknapp added.

“Of course, I would take him all day. [He can] run, dribble, shoot and head the ball.

“He’s the full package, isn’t he? He’s got everything.

“Real Madrid don’t fancy Bale, do they? They could swap him for (Christian) Eriksen. If they fancy him, let’s have a deal.”

Madrid fans were already furious that Bale was included in Giggs’ squad for the international break, despite missing the last four La Liga games due to a calf injury.

Bale added fuel to the fire after holding the flag in the aftermath of the win over Hungary, although he admitted he finds the reports in the Spanish media “funny” ahead of Wales’ final two qualifiers.
