University of South Wales Men’s 1st have the chance to finish their league campaign on a high when they travel to play Cardiff University Men’s 1st, who currently top the BUCS South A.

Four consecutive wins for Ben Daniels’ side have seen them move up to third, and they have the opportunity the finish second should they beat Cardiff, who have only tasted defeat twice so far this season.

The two sides met on the opening day of the season at Sardis Road, with Cardiff running out 21-19 winners in a tight affair.

In fact, that win was the third consecutive time that the Llanrumney based side have got the better of USW, with their last victory coming in October 2015 when the league was called the Premier South A.

Cardiff completed the double over the Treforest-based side last season, edging a narrow encounter 13-5 at the USW Sport Park, and securing a more convincing margin at Llanrumney with a 26-7 win.

Looking at the form guide, both teams should be confident heading into the game. In their previous five games, both USW and Cardiff have won on four occasions.

Cardiff, who are six points ahead of USW on 51, secured the South A title last week with a 24-0 victory against fourth-placed Bristol.

Both sides already know that they are guaranteed to better their final standings from last season, when USW finished sixth and Cardiff finished 2nd, behind Bristol.
