USW 2nds’ dip in form continued as they were beaten for the second successive week, this time by Cardiff Met 3rd.
After letting a lead slip in a 3-2 defeat to Cardiff University seven days ago, USW were on the receiving end once more as goals from Isaac Atherley and Effy Kazard were enough to take all three points away from the Sport Park.
USW started quickest with a couple early of warning shots from outside the box.
But it was Met who were the first to test their opposing keeper when a free-kick from distance by Atherley had to be turned away.
The deadlock was soon broken, though. Atherley picked up the ball on the edge of the box, dribbled past two USW defenders and blasted the ball past a diving keeper and into the top corner to make it 1-0.
The away side went in at half-time the happier of the two sides, and they were happier still when , in the 60th minute, Kazard scored from the penalty sport after being brought down when clean through on goal.
USW were clearly unhappy with the decision but they could have few genuine complaints.
The score might have been worse for the hosts with Met’s Will Tucker, Rhys Thomas and Harrison Price all going close in the last half hour.
A disappointed USW team travel to Cardiff University 3rd for their final game of the season next week and will hope to bounce back.
