VICE-CAPTAIN Katie Lewis was mystified by USW Women’s dismal second half display in their defeat to local rivals Cardiff Met.

At the interval there had been no indication of what was to come from what had been an impressive first half display, but by the end the 4-0 margin in the visitors’ favour was emphatic.

“It is what it is,” said Lewis. “The loss is unfortunate, considering we played so well in the first half.

“I don’t know what happened, if it was the weather, the ten minute break or the sweets we had at half time.”
Lewis remained positive however, adding: “We play as a team. We come to the pitch and play as one. Lose win or draw, it’s down to everyone.”

The team will go back into training ahead of next week’s clash against Bristol.

Lewis added: “We need to work on hit outs, our movement and also short corners. We get a lot of them, but we can’t seem to get any goals once we get the ball in play.

“We’re excited to get back into training and improve. The game against Bristol is our last one, and we have high hopes for it!”
